New TV Night....?
We're thinking about a new TV Night once a week, featuring an
entire TV Series, not airing anymore.
I would like some input from everyone as to a good night to do
this...one night a week, on a normally boring night for everyone...we can have
Pizza, or Wings and begin at the 1st Episode of the series and go until
completion...
I am voting for the Critically Acclaimed FX Network Series "The
Shield"

THE SHIELD is the groundbreaking, Golden Globe and Emmy
Award-winning program that turned the conventional cop drama upside-down and
established FX as a top-tier Cable Network. Now in syndication, THE SHIELD can
be found on local affiliate stations on weekends beginning September 23, 2006.
THE SHIELD plays out in a tough, morally ambiguous world in which the line
between right and wrong is crossed every day. The series focuses on the tension
between a group of corrupt but effective cops and a captain torn between
bringing them down and advancing his own political ambitions. THE SHIELD stars
Michael Chiklis (The Commish) as rogue cop Det. Vic Mackey, leader of the elite
Strike Team unit, who is effective at eliminating crime but operates under his
own set of rules. Benito Martinez (Outbreak) plays Cpt. David Aceveda, the young
precinct head who doesn’t like Mackey’s tactics and wants to bust him off the
force. CCH Pounder (ER & Boycott) plays Det. Claudette Wyms, a veteran detective
who understands Mackey and knows how to play both sides of the force.
THE SHIELD has garnered tremendous critical praise and recognition with 11 Emmy
and Golden Globe Award nominations since its premiere. Importantly, the show
made history in 2003 by becoming the first ad-supported cable series to win the
Golden Globe Award for Best Drama Series. Series star, Michael Chiklis also
received the 2003 Golden Globe Award, 2002 Emmy Award and 2002 TCA Award for
Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series, all basic cable firsts.
Most recently, Glenn Close was nominated for both Golden Globe and Emmy Awards
as Outstanding Lead Actress for her special starring role in THE SHIELD’s fourth
season. CCH Pounder was also recognized for her outstanding performance this
year with an Emmy Nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
THE SHIELD was created by Shawn Ryan and is produced by Fox Television Studios
in association with Sony Pictures Television.

The Making of
the Mini Cigar Bar™
Last year I
vacationed on a small private and somewhat secluded island in the Grenadines
called Mustique. Of all my travels, this was by far the most tranquil and
relaxing. There was no place to be, and no schedule required.
There was nothing but time to enjoy the breathtaking views, the
smell of the ocean and the warmth of the sun (A great setting to sit down and
enjoy a good smoke and a vintage whisky).
I love my scotch and cigars and I have learned that it isn't
always easy to bring them with you. If you don't take them, you might not have a
hell of a lot of choices of what you can drink or smoke. Which was unfortunately
the case on this vacation. Don't get me wrong; I am somewhat resourceful and
managed with the help of some of the local folks, to get my hands on some decent
Cubans and some palatable whisky. It was then I realized I needed one case to
hold those necessities.
I wanted to make a small portable case that would carry my good
whisky and my cigars anywhere I went easily. Most importantly, it had to be made
well, be extremely functional and most importantly, fashionable.
The Mini Cigar bar is made from fine leather and has three
compartments inside the bag, each one large enough to hold a bottle of your
favorite beverage. Included with the bag is a cedar lined leather cylindrical
humidor, 4 stackable acrylic glasses, and a jet style cigar lighter. There is
nothing like it on the market (yet), and its available to you right here!
Max
Benjamin's Mini Cigar Bar (Patent Pending) will most certainly be the hottest
gift idea for the cigar aficionado in 2007. Max has really hit the nail on the
head with this portable travel bar! It is just one of Max's great ideas for
fashion-centric entertaining being released for the upcoming year. The Mini
Cigar Bar answers the needs of the discriminating cigar smoker by providing an
extremely fashionable and functional travel bag that holds your favorite bottle
of scotch or bourbon and includes an all leather cedar lined cylindrical
humidor, lighter, and acrylic glasses. The bag is all leather and comes in black
and brown.
It retails for $295.00.

Exile "Wired"

This Nicaraguan Handmade cigar by American Tobacco S.A. factory
in Esteli, Nicaragua, is a new, well priced brand that is a mellow spin off the
original Exile line that was introduced in 2006. This cigar features a
combination of aged, flavorful Dominican dry tobacco, Honduran long filler
tobaccos Nicaraguan ligero and Veso, a pronounced Connecticut broadleaf binder
and an oily Criollo wrapper from Havana seeds. The result: a perfectly crafted
cigar with smooth and rich flavor, medium body accompanied by a touch of spice
sweetness. Every cigar is individually cellophaned and packed in a portable
sized wire-bound crate – hence the name

|
CAO LX2
Ligero comes from the upper
part of the tobacco plant which receives the most sunlight
giving it a deep, rich flavor. The CAO LX2 ligero-heavy
powerhouse possesses a full-bodied flavor profile and was
inspired by tobacco grown on the 140-acre "Pueblo Nuevo"
farm located just outside of Condega, Nicaragua. CAO LX2
cigars feature a sun grown Nicaraguan wrapper, Honduran
binder, and two different ligero fillers from Nicaragua and
the Dominican Republic. CAO LX2 boasts a bold, muscular
texture but also shows flavors of bittersweet chocolate,
paprika, and woody tobacco notes that fan out superbly on
the palate. Available in three shapes, all CAO XL2 cigars
have been draw-tested to ensure you of a consistently
flawless smoke.
CAO has created a great
combination of sweetness and power in the LX2 cigars. A
beautiful smoke with layers of flavor. |

The CAO America is the
first 'Pinstripe' style cigar in CAO's portfolio with two American-grown wrapper
leaves: one Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro and one Connecticut Shade. Inside there
is a Brazilian binder and 100% ligero filler tobaccos from Nicaragua, Italy,
U.S.A., and the Dominican Republic. The CAO America will come in 20 count red,
white and blue boxes and comes in three shapes: Potomac (5" x 56), the
torpedo-shaped Monument (6 1/4" x 54), and Landmark (6" x 60).

What is Nub? Oliva Cigar Co. and a former
company sales rep have introduced a cigar
innovation that is creating tremendous buzz. The
rep is Sam Leccia, who covered Ohio, Indiana,
and Pennsylvania for Oliva since 2004. Sam came
from the liquor industry where he was a partner
in an award winning vodka.
After learning from the Oliva family how
cigars are rolled in Esteli, Nicaragua, the
Oliva family and Sam created “nubs”, which is a
concept that seeks to deliver only that most
enjoyable part of the cigar. The idea for the
nubs came from the theory that a cigar finds its
“sweet spot” at the 3 ½- 4 inch point. All “nub”
cigars must exist within this window. No “nub”
is longer than 4 inches. Further adding to this
complex theory, the ring gauges range from
56-66. The result is a range of smokes that have
the same amount of tobacco as any Churchill or
even Presidente. Unbelievably, they also smoke
as long. |

The Long awaited Ashton E S G is
Here!
Ashton ESG -
Estate Sun Grown
The Ashton ESG Story
For
twenty years, Ashton has worked tirelessly to produce one of the highest
quality, most consistent cigars that are sold anywhere. To celebrate
twenty
consecutive years of increased sales and overall growth, Robert Levin
and Carlos Fuente Jr. have teamed up to create the Ashton Estate Sun
Grown,
or ESG for short. Such a special occasion called for a very special
cigar. The ESG uses a unique Dominican wrapper grown on the Chateau de
la Fuente farm in the Dominican Republic. This wrapper has never been
used on any other cigar. The blend is the creation of Carlos Fuente Jr.
who is a master blender and has created the most sought after cigars in
the world. With ESG the bar has been raised once again.
|
|
|
Every year, Ashton will introduce
one size of Ashton ESG for the next five years. In its debut
year, a 6.75 x 49 size was introduced. In the second year a
5.25 x 52 has been added along with the continued limited
production of the first year. And so it will continue for three
more years until 2010. From then on, all five sizes will be
produced annually and made available to celebrate the 25th
Anniversary of Ashton. The rare tobaccos
used in this spectacular cigar dictate that only extremely
limited quantities can be produced.
From the unbelievably gorgeous
packaging to the rich, bold complexity of the cigar itself, the
Ashton Estate Sun Grown will take its place as a legendary
cigar. Such a powerful statement can only be made with the
greatest confidence. And that confidence comes from years of
growing and blending the finest tobaccos in the world. To
experience an Ashton Estate Sun Grown is a pleasure beyond
expectation. |

LOOK!!!
Gurkha's new
"Black Dragon" is HERE!

Beach Cigars adds Black Dragon for
mere mortals to Gurkha portfolio
Late in 2006, Beach Cigar Group
stunned the cigar world by introducing the most exclusive cigar in production,
Black Dragon. With exquisite, 15-year aged tobaccos, presented in a 75-year-old
hand-carved, camel-bone chest, it was available to only five epicures worldwide,
at a price tag of $115,000 for 100 cigars. Who would expect to sell cigars for
$1,100 each? “So far, we’ve sold three of the five boxes, but I can’t say who
bought them, other than to say they went into the Middle East,” CEO Kaizad
Hansotia said at press time.
The company is
now introducing Black Dragon at a more earthly price of only $10 to $13 a cigar,
depending on size. They come in three shapes: Robusto, 52 x 4 1/2, box of 40,
$400 MSRP; Torpedo, 53 x 6 1/2, box of 20, $240 MSRP, Presidente, 52 x 8 1/2,
box of 20, $260 MSRP. Like the elite version, the new line is handmade of
long-filler tobacco, in the Toraño family’s Danli, Honduras, factory. Its
wrapper is a five-year aged dark Cameroon, the binder is Dominican and the
filler is Nicaraguan and Peruvian leaf. Presentation is opulent. Beach will have
the new Black Dragon cigars available for sale at RTDA 2007.
Thats right folks, Gurkha's newest Cigar the
Mighty "Black Dragon" is here! NO ONE ELSE has these yet, but as usual, if its a
"Gurkha", your ol pal Harry Smooth has come in under the Radar with an Exclusive
debut of this newest and finest of all Gurkha's!

Tatuaje
Pete Johnson, the cigar buyer for
Grand Havana Room in Beverly Hills, California, has created his own line of
cigars called Tatuaje. Named after the Spanish word for tattoos, Tatuaje refers
to the sleeve of inked images that Johnson sports down the length of his arms.
Tatuaje cigars, which Johnson made
in conjunction with Tabacalera Tropical, are completely Nicaraguan, but
Johnson's ultimate goal was to create a Cuban taste. The cigars are rolled in
Miami's El Rey de los Habanos factory, located in Little Havana. The head
roller, Jose "Pepin" Garcia, is a veteran master roller from Cuba; he was on
hand for the debut of the cigar, at the Grand Havana Room in New York City,
where he showed off his skills. Churning out delicious cigars all evening, he
even rolled a beautifully made cigar pipe, as well as a cigar shaped like a
baseball bat.
"This is old world Cuba for a new
generation," said Johnson. "What they are doing in Nicaragua is the closest
right now to what they are doing in Cuba -- the sweetness of the wrapper and the
aroma coming off the foot." He describes the cigar as medium to full bodied.
"People find it mild because when they first light up, the corojo wrapper
adds a sweetness, but [the cigar] builds up strength toward the end, and that's
how Cuban cigars are to me."

Tatuaje 2006 COJONU
Country of origin:
NICARAGUA
Tatuaje has taken the industry by storm! The Cojonu line
represents the pinnacle of production coming out of the El Rey de los Habanos
factory in Little Havana, Miami. Cojonu 2006, introduced in that year, features
a unique shade-grown viso wrapper. Under the direction of Maestro Tobaquero Jose
'Don Pepin' Garcia, master rollers skillfully handcraft each cigar, resulting in
an impeccable construction and smooth draw. Tatuaje’s creator, Pete Johnson,
carefully selected 100% first generation Cuban seed Nicaraguan filler, giving
the puros their impressive strength and complex aroma. Each Tatuaje cigar truly
captures the spirit of old Havana, down to its Cuban-style triple cap.

Graycliff
Founded by Graycliff Resort owner,
Enrico Garzaroli, The Graycliff Cigar Company has achieved
fame worldwide for its handcrafted cigars, produced within the lush tropical
setting of Graycliff's prestigious resort.
An enthusiastic cigar aficionado,
Garzaroli dreamed of producing truly top-class cigars that would be perfectly
compatible with the fine wine and cuisine that his restaurants were noted for.
To realize his dream he partnered with
well-known cigar legend Cuban
Avelino Lara to create Graycliff's high-end, limited production
cigars.

The Graycliff Red Label, known as the original blend, combines a
smooth-burning Indonesian wrapper with tobacco from Nicaragua, the Dominican
Republic and Brazil.
Avelino Lara's
incredible consistency of construction allows these cigars to hit flavor peaks
other brands can only hope to reach. The even burn and white ash keep going
until there is only a smoke ring.
The Graycliff
Blue Label Profesionale pays homage to the Red Label Original Blend with a
smooth-burning Indonesian wrapper and tobacco from Brazil, the Dominican
Republic and Nicaragua.
The Blue Label
wins the award for beauty, as the outer leaf tends toward a more classic
cosmetic face. Cigar manufacturing aficionados know that each cigar has a face
(front) and a rear (literally backside). Veins are virtually nonexistent within
the range of Graycliff Profesionale. Additionally, there is a
there is a much larger use of Brazilian
tobacco, and
therefore a smoother finish to these cigars.

The Graycliff
Emerald has the difficult-to-produce, high-quality candela wrapper. This shade
of wrapper was once referred to as American Market Selection, distinguished from
the brown, English Market Selection. In the new millennium, Candela has been
rediscovered.
The Emerald's
tobacco is the same as Graycliff Crystal's - a blend of Nicaraguan, Dominican
and Brazilian tobaccos - but what a difference in taste the candela wrapper
makes. The Emerald cigar is softer but somewhat vegetal on the palate.

tobaccos that comprise Beauty have been patiently housed in Nestor Plasencia’s
tobacco barns in Danli, Honduras, for five long years. During this time, they
have been subjected to the most meticulous care as they cure, age, ferment, and
then ferment again. With each slowly passing year, these tobaccos keep getting
more mature as every vestige of harshness is aged away.
It’s been five long years since the bales were chosen and sequestered in a
special barn. But 2006 is the year for these tobaccos now to make their debut.
Only now does Plasencia deem them worthy of inclusion in a Gurkha.
The Gurkha Beauty is
very limited, very rare, but we have them.

THE "BEAST" 6.5 X
60padThe Beast has an extremely rich and dark looking wrapper. This aged Costa
Rican Maduro wrapper lends the cigar its unique flavor. Medium to full-bodied,
Beast is masterfully blended with a Nicaraguan binder, and an intriguing mix of
Honduran, Dominican, and Colombian tobaccos for the filler. The Beast is, well .
. . a beast, a large cigar which is perfect for the blend. This large format has
a perfect draw a great burn and allows for a multitude of flavors to enjoy at
every puff. Full flavored, it is rich, hearty, but never over-powering, and has
a complex earthy taste with a subtle hint of coffee. It’s definitely a man’s
cigar and rare, so if you want a chance to tame this Beast, now is the time.
